Nix the pixie

Emma Watson has announced that she will be growing her hair out, and to that I say, Thank God.

I mean, her pixie cut is cute and all, but she has a tendency to look so boyish. This is a photo of her before she cut is all off. Although you can't really see her hair here, if you look at a photo of her now and a photo of her then, you can see that the cut has even affected the way her face looks.

I don't know maybe it's just me. What do you think?

Evergreen Love

This is one of the sweetest love notes I have ever read. It was written to photographer Nirrimi by her boyfriend. It absolutely melts my heart. If only I had a boy that would write me little notes like this.

My beautiful girl,
You are asleep beside me, and despite the deep rumbles and grating gears of the passing vehicles on the highway outside our window, I feel so content, listening to your breathing, and the wind in the tall backyard tree, and now it is silent of all cars and trucks and road noise, and now it is nicer than it was before. With you I have learnt the most about myself, and consequently the world, and with you I am calmest, clearest, happiest, realest, warmest, and all other superlatives that could be used to describe just how right things are with you. I have said it a few times but I'm not sure I've ever truly been able to express just how much I appreciate you, your presence in my life, all of the things I have learnt from you both directly and indirectly. The world will change and change often, sometimes dramatically, but I know our love will always remain. We are the strongest of the strong, and I will never leave your side. Thank you for all that you have blessed me with. I am indebted to you.
Yours for all time, and timelessness,
m

Kiss me with your blood red lips

Firstly, hello. Secondly, I apologize for being so incredibly busy. It has been a little under a month (thankfully, not a full month, as that would be a legitimate marker of my negligence) since my last blog post. I'm sure it seems as if I either got incredibly bored with blogging or dropped off the face of the earth all together, but I assure you that I have not done either of those things. I really wanted to take a break to get everything in my life in order before I began blogging again.

Anyway, I have recently discovered a wonderful musician named Misty Miller and I thought that I would share a video of her performing her song "Remember" for the Burberry Aucoustic Series. She is only sixteen years old, but her voice is marvelous and incredibly sweet sounding. Also, I just made a YouTube page for my blog. I doubt that I personally will be posting videos anytime soon, but I have several of my favorite videos favorited (ha) if you want to take a look.

Aestheticism

Art exists for the sake of its beauty alone.

I'm not sure if I entirely agree with the idea, but it does give satisfaction to those who feel intimidated by art and the almost inevitable analysis that comes along with it. The eye can appreciate art just for its beauty, not for its underlying meaning (If there really is one.) You don't have to philosophize, you don't have to try to determine what the artist was feeling when he created the piece or even what the motivation for it was. You merely have to be able to register what is aesthetically pleasing to you.

I personally love the analysis- literature, art, what have you. How do you all feel? Are you aesthetists?

If I could have it back, all the time that we wasted I'd only waste it again

Whenever you think of Valentine's Day, you think of peacocks. Just kidding. But seriously, this is a beautiful picture.

Happy V-Day.

Actress of the Moment: Hailee Steinfeld

One of my favorite actresses, Hailee Steinfeld is the girl of the moment, earing an Oscar nom at the tender age of fourteen. Her performance in True Grit was incredible as she expertly tackled dialogue seasoned professionals would have trouble with. She truly is an inspiration! Go see True Grit!

Bio: Fresh faced, scene stealer teen Hailee Steinfeld made her mark on both the small screen and big all before the age of 15, including most recently in the Coen brothers' Wild West pot boiler, True Grit.

Born in Twin Oaks, California, Steinfeld was home schooled most of her life, before a role in a K-Mart commercial led the actress-to-be to land small parts on the TV series Back to You, and Sons of Tucson. Still a relative unknown, in 2010 Steinfeld snagged a critical role in True Grit, a remake of the John Wayne classic, staring opposite Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon.

The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return.

Oh gosh I have been absent for awhile haven't I! Sorry about that, more college auditions. But I am pleased to share that I had an audition in Boston today and it went very well!

I really hate lagging on this blog, but I appreciate all of your comments and follows while I was!
Love this photo, but it does make me very hungry.

Photo of the Day

This had to be the photo of the day, in honor of the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards held tonight at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. I am forever in awe of the masterful people nominated every year for their incredible work in film and television.

While all those nominated are absolutely brilliant, the big winners included Natalie Portman, Colin Firth, Christian Bale, Melissa Leo, Annette Bening, Paul Giamatti, Katey Sagal, Steve Buscemi, Laura Linney and Jim Parsons.

Personally, I was overjoyed (and not at all shocked) at Natalie's win. She truly was magnificent in Black Swan, as I previously reviewed, and it was well deserved!

I will be posting on my favorite Globes fashion tomorrow! Night!

Update: Obviously I didn't post my favorite Globes fashion the day after this post. I decided that I am going to combine my favorite looks at all of the award shows this season into one large post!

I do enjoy this photo though! How adorable is that bird?

Wishful Thinking + Photo of the Day

1. Nasty Gal Spotted Pashmina Scarf, 2. Nasty Gal Tied Up Trouser - Olive, 3. Nasty Gal Twisted Trench Coat,
4. Dolman Wrap Dress in Mocha, 5. Nasty Gal Fur Beanie, 6. Deena & Ozzy Suede Wedge Boot, 7. The Limited Starburst Earrings, 8. PS1 Medium Suede in 'Stone', 9. House of Dagmar Anne Louise Coat

My first wishlist!- compromised of neutrals, some statement pieces, and one breathtaking bag. I know, everyone is obsessing over the PS1 (i.e. Proenza Schouler). I am most certainly no exception. My favorite one is the PS1 Medium Suede in 'Stone.' Unfortunately not many of us have $1595 in spare change.

I also have some less expensive pieces on the wishlist, from Urban Outfitters, Nasty Gal, and The Limited. I especially love those suede wedge boots!

Let me know what you guys think!

Photo of the Day

I found this picture a long time ago, I'm not sure when exactly, but I felt that I just had to share it. I don't know who the designer is (yes, I'm 0 and 2 right now), but I do know that this dress is incredibly beautiful. I will try to post the designer, model, photographer, etc., from this point on, but for now, just bear with me! Hope you enjoy!

Black Swan

I knew as soon as I saw the trailer for this movie that I would be obsessed with it. First of all, I have always been a huge fan of Natalie, but I also absolutely love Gothic films. This is certainly no exception. The movie, of course, is filled with dark undertones, but the exquisite cinematography manages to balance it out quite nicely. Nonetheless, I would have to say that it is easily one of the most disturbing films that I have ever seen. It is also one of my very favorites. This is largely due to the spectacular performance by Natalie Portman.

The film depicts the inner-conflict of Portman's character Nina, a professional ballet dancer with a burdensome need to achieve perfection. Undoubtedly at her very best, Natalie is so incredibly raw and complex that I often forgot that I was just watching a movie. The Oscar will certainly not elude her this year, mark my words!
We must not forget the supporting cast, however, as Mila Kunis also gives an incredible performance as the films apparent antagonist.

If you haven't seen this movie yet, be sure to see it before it leaves theaters! It may not be your cup of tea, and you will more than likely leave the theater having no idea what just happened, as I certainly did, but after some reflection you come to your own conclusions. The ability to produce that effect on the audience, in my opinion, shows the mark of true genius.
